Week of 1/22/18 & 1/29/18

Theodore Roosevelt:

As President, Theodore Roosevelt protected nearly 230 million acres of land, including 150 national forests, the first 55 federal wildlife refuges, 5 national parks, and the first 18 national monument sites.

A great communicator is able to express his/her ideas in a variety of ways. To that end, Theodore not only delivered great speeches but wrote thirty-five books.

Learning Plan

Writing: 

Note: Make certain that all collaborative letters (France 🇫🇷 ) have been submitted and updated if applicable. 

I can generate ideas to develop a quality memoir.

Focus Task: Complete organizing you memoir thoughts and begin composing your piece.

Reminders: Your memoir must include the Headline Thinking Routine, and include at least one creed. In addition, your Generate, Sort, Connect and Elaborate will need to be attached to your final copy. 

Guiding Question to assist in your memoir development :What event has had a significant impact on your growth as a life-long learner ?

Social Studies: 

Note: Ensure that you have finished developing your Thirteen Colonies Map. (This should be a check off on your list.)

I can utilize my knowledge of historic events to connect the different perspectives in Colonial America.

Focus Task #1: Dissect the text- Wanted: A Just Right Government

Focus Task: Brain Pop —American Revolution

Focus Task #3: Make certain you have fully developed your Thirteen Colonies map. 

Guiding Question: What layers of thinking were used to complete this document ?

 

Math:

I can review specific math elements to create a deeper understanding.

Focus Task #1: Complete all Academic Race components.

Focus Task #2: Complete your S.M.G. Application Problem.

Guiding Question: What layers of thinking are you applying when addressing specific challenges ?

 

Science:

How does the Earth work as a system?

Focus Task #1: pH demonstration interactive pages (resource: pages 634-635)

Focus Task #2: Trout– What is Salvelinus fontinalis ? (Interactive Notebook Pages)

Focus Task #3: Taxonomy: What is the taxonomy of your organisms.

Focus Task #4: Describe all the components of the filter and chiller.
